ABOUT US

The Human Rights HUB is a research initiative founded in 2016, that looks to:

  1. Promote innovation in applied research and promote solutions in the field of human rights from a multidisciplinary perspective linked with new technologies;
  2. Expose the correlation between discrimination and violation of human rights by generating tools to identify unconscious cognitive biases; and
  3. Develop prevention and training programs to strengthen the exercise and defense of human rights among vulnerable or at-risk populations.

The Human Rights Hub has developed two core strategies in order to achieve its goals:

  • The Creative HR HUB promotes and enables collaborative and interdisciplinary spaces to develop, analyze and design public solutions to address human rights violations. We use methodologies and participatory tools to facilitate collective analytical work which include: case studies, social innovation tools, creative thinking and facilitation techniques. We work with civil society organizations, students, faculty members, researchers and people with different backgrounds interested in addressing human rights. The core cases that we work with are: internal and international migration, persons with psychosocial and intellectual disability, trafficking in persons and sexual exploitation, incarcerated women and child labor.
  • In Form HR is a research strategy that looks to integrate and develop tools and training programs to uphold human rights by visibilizing cognitive biases and discriminatory blind spots. We develop cognitive research tools to understand and inform social preferences that can translate in systemic discrimination.
